July is nearly here and we’re closing out summer with some great events in Hancock County! No matter if you’re looking for family-friendly events, delicious food, arts & cultural experiences, or back-to-school preparation, there’s something for us all in Hancock County this July. Follow the Greenfield Community events page for additional details and more events coming later this year. 

July 1: Hancock4Kids Summer Safety

Join Hancock4Kids at their Family Fun Summer Series event on July 1, with a safety session focusing on water safety and safe sleep. They will also be giving away summer fun packs for families, a scavenger hunt activity, and grab & go snack packs. Visit the East Pavilion at Riley Park in Greenfield from 6:30-8 p.m. to pick up your free snacks or fun packs. 

July 4: Greenfield Fireworks

Our annual Greenfield community fireworks will take off from Greenfield Jr. High School at approximately 10 p.m. Grab a blanket and some snacks and enjoy the show! Faith Apostolic Church is also hosting a “Faith and Fireworks” viewing party at their building with games, snacks, and fishing starting at 7 p.m. 

July 9: Food Truck Friday

Enjoy food trucks and live music at the quarterly Food Truck Friday in historic Downtown Greenfield nearly all day July 9 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sponsored by Main Street Greenfield, this is sure to be a fun and delicious time! Food vendors can sign up online to participate in July’s event or the next event on September 10, along with relevant permits and required documentation to serve food from the Hancock County Health Department.

July 9: Singer/Songwriter Series at Riley Home

The James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and Museum will be hosting their “2nd Friday Event” on July 9 as a part of their singer/songwriter series featuring 2 Jason’s. You can learn more about this event by contacting the museum directly at jwriley@greenfieldin.org or 317-462-8539.

July 10: 4th at Fortville

Celebrate that “small-town 4th feeling” with Fortville Friends of the Parks at their 4th at Fortville event on July 10. Events include a 5K fun run at 8 a.m., food vendors and car show opening at 10 a.m., Main Stage live music starting at 7:45 p.m., and fireworks at 10 p.m.

July 10: Peace Pole Workshop

The Hancock County Arts Council is a local community organization that encourages, celebrates, and promotes arts and culture in Hancock County. Their upcoming peace pole painting workshop is sure to be a cultural learning experience for all attendees. Taking place at Twenty North Gallery from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., the cost is $25 and all supplies are included. 

July 15: Hancock4Kids Back-to-School Night

If you’re excited to prep for going back to school, this event is for you! Hosted by Hancock4Kids, you can join them at Riley Park East Pavilion from 6:30-8 p.m. for free snacks, a family fun activity, and a backpack and school supplies giveaway. Please note that school supplies are limited, so you must register online ahead of time to secure a ticket for your free back-to-school items.

July 16: Greenfield Area Chamber Class Golf Tournament

Support the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce by participating in their 33rd annual Florida Scramble-style golf tournament. Check-in and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. with a 1 p.m. Shotgun Start. Hosted at the Royal Hylands Golf Club in Knightstown, we hope you can join as either an individual or four-person team player. 

July 21: Hancock County Community Night

The annual Hancock County Community Night is coming up on July 21 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hancock County Fairgrounds. Get in the back-to-school mood as you visit the varying booths of community vendors and organizations, including Healthy365, passing out produce in partnership with the Hoosier Harvest Market. 

July 31: Pennsy Trail Art Fair and Music Festival

The annual Pennsy Trail Art Fair and Music Festival is a great way to support both the local arts community, as well as local Hancock County social service and mental health needs. Hosted by the Mental Health Partners of Hancock Co., you can visit the Courthouse Plaza to view and purchase one-of-a-kind handmade wares from local artists from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
