The holiday season will be here before we know it, and Greenfield Main Street is spreading the holiday cheer with their inaugural Hometown Holiday Market coming up on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the Living Alley at North Street. With local vendors selling one-of-a-kind wares, delicious food trucks and a family-friendly atmosphere, there’s sure to be something for everyone at this year’s Hometown Holiday Market.

What type of vendors will be at the Holiday Market?

When you visit the holiday market, you’ll be likely to find a range of handcrafted items and unique holiday gifts for the special people in your life (or to keep yourself).  “We are trying to get really high-quality artisans here to keep a nice variety of vendors,” said Leah Reynolds, chair of the promotions committee for Greenfield Main Street

Reynolds expects a majority of the products at the holiday market to be homemade, such as bath items and soaps, candles, home decor, jewelry and more. “Some vendors will probably have holiday items sprinkled in,” she said. “But most of what we’re seeing coming in with applications right now is not holiday-specific.”

The organizers also hope to make the market a highly curated experience through their vendor application process. As Debra Smith, executive director of Greenfield Main Street, explained, “We want to make sure it is full of high-quality items that you might not typically find at the vendor fairs and street markets that have been held in Greenfield before.” Plus, there’s still time for interested vendors to apply online with a deadline of Dec. 1.

Will there be food available for purchase?

In addition to vendors with holiday food gifts for purchase, there will also be several food trucks available at the market in the afternoon. Leading up to the event, you will be able to find vendor highlights for each artisan and food truck on Greenfield Main Street’s Facebook page, so that you’ll know exactly what to expect on Dec. 11.

What is the Ho Ho Ho Holiday Breakfast?

Speaking of food, you can make a whole day of the Holiday Market by bringing the kids to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Ho Ho Ho Holiday Breakfast located at Wooden Bear Brewing. Tickets for this timed event will include a photo opportunity with Santa, a full breakfast buffet catered by Lincoln Square Pancake House and a cash bar with mimosas and micheladas for guests 21 and over. Once you finish your breakfast, you can walk right out to the Living Alley to shop the Holiday Market and local small businesses as well!

How else can we celebrate the holidays in Greenfield?

Greenfield Main Street is also sponsoring Holiday Flicks at the Ricks with discounted holiday classics showing at the historic H.J. Ricks Theatre. Tickets are just $5 through Eventbrite or at the door for showings of “White Christmas” on Dec. 4-5 or “Prancer” on Dec. 18-19.

Residents and visitors alike love the small-town feel of Greenfield, making it the perfect place to celebrate the holiday season. “There are events going on throughout the month of December for people to come and shop and enjoy,” said Smith. “Our ultimate goal is to get people to come and enjoy our downtown area and visit the local shops.”
