Changing Footprints – Shoes Only
Changing Footprints is a nonprofit organization that operates out of Rushville and Indianapolis to provide shoes to those in need both locally and globally. They have dozens of local shoe drop locations, including the Greenfield Changing Footprints Warehouse at 1001 W Main St.
If you would like to visit the Shoe Room at this location, you can contact organizer Steve Jeffries at 317-374-5608 to schedule an appointment. The flagship Rushville shoe room is open the first and third Saturday and the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. – noon.
God’s Open Arms Ministry
Known primarily for distributing hot meals in Hancock County and Indianapolis, God’s Open Arms Ministry also helps provide clothing to individuals in need. Donations or requests for an appointment can be made by contacting their Greenfield office at 317-339-8015.
Their annual Day of Love and Caring event offers a Christmas celebration (including winter clothing) to families who may not have one otherwise. Typically held on Christmas Eve at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, plans for 2020 have yet to be announced.
Lambswear Inc. – Children Only
Lambswear is a nonprofit organization originally founded by MccCordsville’s Outlook Christian Church that provides clothing and coat resources specifically to children in need. Their offices are located at 5841 Thunderbird Rd, Suite D in Indianapolis, but they also offer remote locations for donations and delivery upon request.
If you would like to request clothing for your child, you can complete this form with their sizes and clothing needs, such as a coat, pajamas, socks, etc. Fall and winter orders are filled from September through February.
Life Choices Care Center – Infants Only
If you are in need of winter supplies for an infant or small child, you can reach out to Life Choice Care Center at 317-467-9700 or visit 1454 N. State St in Greenfield. In addition to pregnancy tests, counseling and STI testing, Life Choices provides free infant supplies for women and families in need.
Love INC
Love INC ministry (which stands for “In the Name of Christ”) is a partnership of local churches in and around Hancock County to provide items and services to those in need. If you are seeking items to prepare for winter or would like to donate, you can contact the Clearinghouse Phone Line at 317-468-6300 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday or visit their offices at 630 State St in Greenfield.
Love INC also uses existing ministries to help provide warm weather gear for those who need to “fill in the gap” for items not provided by other services or agencies. Love INC helps to operate a shoe ministry and weekly bread ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield, as well as the Giving Nursery for baby and toddler items at Trinity Park United Methodist Church in Greenfield.
