Are you in need of a little extra support for yourself or your family? Are you interested in volunteering with fellow Christian churches to serve others for a larger purpose? Love INC of Greater Hancock County is committed to uniting churches to live out their faith by serving local residents in need. With services ranging from job skills to food pantries to a phone clearinghouse connecting to resources, there’s something for everyone at Love INC.

The History of Love INC

Love INC stands for Love In the Name of Christ. The Greater Hancock County affiliate is part of a larger national movement mobilizing local churches to help others in all areas of life. Our local chapter started in 2004 with the phone clearinghouse ministry. In the almost 20 years since its founding, there have been thousands of phone calls processed and volunteer hours put in to make Love INC of Greater Hancock County what it is today.

Phone Clearinghouse

The Phone Clearinghouse is the heartbeat of Love INC, connecting people to necessary resources in the community. Volunteers answer phone calls to focus wholely on the person in need, and not just the need they initially express. Phone volunteers can match up people with churches, agencies and other local resources that can support their needs, rather than a person having to call multiple locations to find everything they may need.

The Phone Clearinghouse also helps to mobilize volunteers for current and new opportunities to serve. In 2020 alone, 881 calls were processed for intake by the Clearinghouse! If you are in need of help from the Clearinghouse, you can call 317-468-6300 Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Gap Ministry

Love INC’s Gap Ministry is a unique service that meets the needs of people that are not currently being met by other agencies, churches or government support. Gap Ministry is literally “filling in the gap” for those in need. Just a few of the services coordinated through this ministry include donations of shoes, furniture and appliances, and cleaning supplies/paper products that aren’t available on food stamps. In addition, during the 2020 calendar year, 3 wheelchair ramps were installed, 11 families were provided with baby supplies from the Giving Nursery and 13 people were lent medical items like walkers and crutches.

Transformational Ministry

The Transformational Ministry “seeks to transform the lives of people in chronic need through caring relationships and classes/training opportunities.” Some of these opportunities include one-on-one mentorships for self-sufficiency (with access to Gap Ministry resources), as well as group workshops for job skills and money management. Love INC even manages a career resource board with local job postings in Greenfield and the surrounding area. In 2020, Love INC reported 18 individuals learned new money management skills and 20 learned new life skills.

We are very blessed to have the Love INC ministry right here in Greater Hancock County.
