Where delicious food meets a lesson in history
Housed in Greenfield’s old grain elevator from over a century ago, this restaurant will be sure to satisfy your hunger as well as your taste for nostalgia. The grain elevator was a part of everyday life in historic Greenfield, and many families who still live here had relatives that would meet at this location to conduct business. It is a symbol of the city’s agricultural roots, something that has become really important to those calling this lovely community home.
New ideas for an old building
Along with providing a glimpse into the city’s history, the renovation and use of this building will also serve as just another reminder of Greenfield’s vibrant and innovative small business community. Depot Street Investments has been hard at work renovating this old building to its former glory and beyond.
Construction even included a brick addition, with some of the bricks coming from an old schoolhouse built in 1845. The restaurant and pub will include a large indoor seating area as well as outdoor seating. A second floor for private parties will be available. As if this wasn’t enough, the crew working on The Depot is also creating an event space, which will be the perfect fit alongside the new Depot Street Park.
A prime location for the Depot restaurant
Speaking of which, this restaurant will have a prime location to catch all of the fun happening in the park, where construction is underway to create a large outdoor event space and more for Greenfield residents. No one will want to visit the park without heading to the depot for a drink on the patio, a plate of delicious food, and a glimpse into Greenfield’s past.
The new use of such a historic building is adding to the beautiful story of history present within our community, one that may even attract many people from all over Hancock County. The local food scene is strong in Greenfield, and residents can be sure that this restaurant will satisfy their taste buds while creating a unique and heartfelt aesthetic to go along with it. Doors are set to open in August, so lets welcome The Depot by heading over there and grabbing a bite to eat! Follow them on Facebook at The Depot for more updates about their grand opening!
