Summer in Indiana is heating up and, with plenty to do in and around Greenfield, this might be our best season yet! How will you make the most of the sun and the social events? When there is more to do than can fit on your calendar, you need a Greenfield summer checklist to help you plan accordingly.

What’s on our Greenfield Summer Checklist?

Take in a movie in the parks

Want some free entertainment? Check out Greenfield Parks’ summer movie lineup! Head on over to our events page for a full rundown of dates to see hits such as Lightyear, Moana, Trolls, The Adams Family and more, held at Beckenholdt Park and other locations around Greenfield.

Shop summer sidewalk sales and more

Greenfield’s ample local businesses mean there is plenty to choose from if you want to find some summertime treasures. Make sure to keep an eye out for special sales on Main Street this summer! If you like to hunt for your finds, the National Road Yard Sale begins soon and there are plenty of other antique shops to dig into this season.

Catch a free summer concert

There are plenty of chances to enjoy live music in Greenfield this summer. Check out our events page to stay up to date on both the Live @ the Rails and Entertainment @ Depot Street Park summer concert series, spanning June through September.

Get creative with Hancock County Arts

Whether you visit Twenty North Gallery to take in an exhibition or plan to attend one of the many classes and artist callouts this summer through Hancock County Arts, now is a great time to tap into your creativity. Even kids will want to check out the great exhibits this season, including artwork from local Hancock County teachers!

Dine al fresco at your favorite spot

No matter what cuisine you enjoy, there is something for you here in Greenfield. The best part? Patios. With so many chances to dine outdoors, you might need to add some extra space into your calendar for this one. Check out some of our favorite restaurants by reading our tourism blog.

Get active in the community

There are so many fun annual summer events for Greenfield residents of every age. The Hancock Flat 50 on August 26th is a great way to get in shape and stay active with your kids, friends and extended family. Or, you can exercise your creativity by heading to the Pennsy Art and Music Festival on July 29th. If your family is full of animal lovers, the Hancock County 4H Fair is starting next month. Check out our events page for even more to add to your summer calendar!

Help a neighbor in need

Around the winter holidays, we generally think about helping our neighbors in need. But, what about those who need help in the warmer months of the year? There are plenty of amazing non-profits right here in Greenfield that could use some summer support. Check in with Hope House, Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels of Hancock County, Agape, and more.

Savor fresh tastes of the summer

If a ripe tomato or sweet ear of corn signifies summer to you, don’t miss out on your chance to bring home some seasonal bounty. The Farmer’s Market at the Fairgrounds runs all summer long or you can stop by one of our local Greenfield farms, such as Tuttle Orchards, to grab some farm fresh produce (and a delicious bite to eat at their café).

Get outside and have some fun!

There are plenty of places to enjoy some summer fun here in Greenfield! Take a hike in one of the many nature preserves, bike Pennsy Trail, head over to the pool at Riley Park to cool off, or run through the splash pad with the kids.

With so much to choose from, you will need to keep your Greenfield Summer Checklist close by to make the most of this beautiful time of year right here in our own community!
